Hello my name is Helen. When I was 8 months old my mom noticed that I had difficulty opening my right hand and crawling. After many tests the doctor told my mom that I had Hemiplegia which is a type of Cerebral Palsy.
Many people believe that Cerebral Palsy is a disease. That’s not true at all. It is a condition where my brain has difficulty controlling certain muscles in my body. In my case it is my right arm and leg.
I have a type of Cerebral Palsy called Hemiplegia which affects the muscles on my one side. Sometimes I have a lot of tightness in my arm and leg.
My mom says I am very strong and that I have special a job to do. It is to tell people all about Cerebral Palsy and to help them understand it better.

Many people believe that Cerebral Palsy is a disease. That’s not true at all. It is a condition where my brain has difficulty controlling certain muscles in my body. In my case it is my left arm and leg and then I drag my leg (especially when I’m tired).
Hemiplegia affects the muscles on my one side. Sometimes I have a lot of tightness in my arm and leg and that’s why I wear my brace on my arm and leg.
My mom says I am very strong and that I have special a job to do. It is to tell people all about Cerebral Palsy and to help them understand it better.
